Raintree Quilter's Guild

Promoting the Art of Quilting

About Our Guild

A BRIEF HISTORY OF OUR GUILD

In 1986, a group of women met at Evansville's Baer Fabrics.  They wanted to create a gathering where those interested in quilts and quilting could meet, share information, and promote interest in their art.  As a result, the unnamed guild's first meeting was at Newburgh Library in November of that year. Approximately 25 members attended the slide show presentation.

The name Raintree Quilters Guild was chosen, and Betty Cummings designed the winning contest entry for our logo. Our first donation quilt received an Honorable Mention at the AQS Quilt Show in Paducah, Kentucky.

Through the years, Raintree Quilters Guild has been active in numerous projects promoting quilting. We present a biennial quilt show and are active in presenting the  Tri-State Quilt Day.

We have provided many quilts to deserving organizations in our area and we host nationally known quilting teachers who lecture and teach both new and traditional techniques to our members. We conduct workshops for our members.  We have challenges that encourage members to participate by following specific guidelines, and we have many other ways for people to participate in the guild.  Our creativity is amazing.
